Christmas Island Domain Administration Limited (cxDA) becomes latest Member of IWF

cxDA is the most recent company to become a Member of the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF). The company is the policy authority and industry self-regulatory entity that oversees the Christmas Island top level domain registry.

Christmas Island is an external territory of the Commonwealth of Australia in the Indian Ocean, with a population of between 2,000 and 3,000 people. The registration of a domain in the ccTLD is open to any individual or entity anywhere in the world, provided they agree to comply with the Acceptable Use Policy.

By joining the IWF, cxDA joins 129 other IWF Member companies in disrupting the distribution of, and access to, online child sexual abuse imagery everywhere.

Garth Miller, cxDA Managing Director, said: “As the administrator of the Christmas Island country code Top Level Domain (ccTLD), we seek to ensure the use of the domain space is consistent with applicable Australian legislation and community standards. Joining the IWF gives cxDA timely access to information that enables us to take proactive measures to combat abuse.”

And Members like Christmas Island Domain Administration Limited, from a remote island in the Indian Ocean, are just as important to us as the likes of Google and Facebook. We believe that the only way we can truly eliminate online child sexual abuse imagery is through strong, international partnerships.”
