According to a study by the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), Germany is one of the countries with the most child pornography material in the EU. The amount of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) published in Germany is currently ten times higher than in 2020, according to the IMF. "This puts the country at the forefront of locations in the EU in this area."

According to the study, 838 confirmed cases of child sexual abuse were traced back to German servers in 2020. The following year, IMF analysts confirmed 8219 reports of URLs and images showing sexual abuse and located on servers in Germany.

Last year, according to the study, 62 percent of the world's known material on child sexual abuse was assigned to an EU country. Of these, five percent were hosted in Germany (three percent of the global total volume).
